    Billie Paul Piper (born Lianne Paul Piper on the 22nd of September, 1982) is an English actress and former pop star. She began her career in her teens as a pop singer but is now best known for portraying Rose Tyler, companion to the Doctor in the television series Doctor Who from 2005 to 2006, a role she reprised in 2008. Broadcast magazine listed Piper at number six in its "Hot 100" list of influential on-screen performers in 2007, making her the top woman on the list.

billieWelcome to the All about Billie Piper website. Billie Piper's big break in the entertainment industry came as a teenager, when she was chosen to appear on Scratchy and Co, a Saturday morning kid’s TV show.

Real Billie

She later won a role in a TV commercial advertising Smash Hits, a pop magazine. In 1996 she sang backing vocals on a dance track by H2O called Nobody's Business. Soon thereafter, at the mere age of fifteen, she was given a record deal, and in 1998 she became the youngest recording artist to ever debut at the top of the UK singles chart with the song "Because We Want To", which was released under “Billie” her stage name.

Her second single "Girlfriend" then also came in at number one in the singles chart and her debut album, Honey to the B, which was released immediately after, entered the UK album charts at Number 14. She thereafter released two other singles from this album, namely the tracks "She Wants You" and "Honey to the Bee" with both songs entering the UK singles chart at Number 3.

Billie then took a full year off to record her follow up album. She chose to release more records as Billie Piper, her full name, and returned to the UK Singles Chart in May 2000 with a new, more grown up, sexier sound. She hit the Number 1 spot with "Day & Night", but her success wasn't to continue.

Billie Piper Pulls out of BBC Comedy
Billie Piper has pulled out of BBC comedy 'Tom and Jenny'.

In 2003 she ended her singing career and turned her real passion for the theater.


Billie Piper studied at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School. She caught the eyes of record producers who were interested in signing a young vocalist when she was the poster girl for the ad campaign of a British pop music magazine, "Smash Hits". She released her first single, "Because We Want To", which debuted at No. 1 at age 15. Her second single, "Girlfriend", was also a No. 1 hit. By the time she turned 16, Billie had released 4 singles that all made the top three on the charts. She has been labeled the "Pop Princess" of England, UK.
